JFAK, with EPI, is awarded the Design-Build commission for the new Job Placement and Data Center at Los Angeles Harbor College
JFAK, with General Contractor EPI Construction, has won the design competition for the new Job Placement and Data Center (JPDC) at Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC). LAHC is one of the colleges that make up the Los Angeles Community Design District (LACCD). The design and construction of the new JPDC will be monitored by BuildLACCD, an innovative design-build program focused upon the creation of sustainable campuses across the City of Los Angeles.
The new JPDC will be housed in a completely transformed one-story building on the LAHC campus. The program includes offices and classrooms to serve the needs of four separate departmental entities, including the Data Center for the entire LAHC campus. The addition of a large photovoltaic skylight over a newly enclosed courtyard, a photovoltaic trellis, new LED media screen clock tower, and other enhancements will bring new energy and an iconic identity to the building.
LEED Gold is targeted. The project is slated to begin construction in May 2011 and be completed in June 2012.
